The Royal: New apartments present options, independence for people with disabilities and veterans  

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, 3:30-6:30 p.m., Movin' Out will celebrate the grand opening of The Royal Apartments, 2232 West Broadway in Madison, a project in partnership with the Commonwealth Companies.

The grand opening ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m. and will include remarks from Movin' Out executive director Kathryne Auerback and Commonwealth Companies principal Christopher Jaye, representatives from state and local government, and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes  and Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway (invited). 

The free celebration features fun activities for the whole family including face painting, balloon animals, and kids' crafts, plus food and beverages with Chrysalis Pops for dessert (all while supplies last), and guided tours of the apartments.

The Royal is Movin' Out's newest high quality, affordable rental community, with affirmatively inclusive supportive units.

  • 48 units total, including 12 3-bedroom, 32 2-bedroom, and 4 1-bedroom apartments

  • 40 of the units are designated for households earning 30-60% of the county median income

  • 8 apartments are for households earning no more than 80% of the county median income

  • 11 apartments are for households that include a family member with a disability or a veteran (6 of these are for households at 30% CMI, and 5 are Project-Based Section 8 units through Dane County Housing Authority)

The project was funded through the following sources:

  • Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Affordable Housing Funds

  • City of Madison Funds

  • Tax Credit Allocation - WHEDA

  • Tax Credit Equity - WNC
